In Taunton, December 20, 2014 Timothy P. Gallagher, Passed away at Morton Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. Timothy is survived by his loving wife Joan (Gilbert) Gallagher of Taunton. He was born in Dighton, MA on June 24, 1941, the son of the late William and Lillian (Corrigan) Gallagher. Timothy attended Taunton schools and furthered his education while serving in the Marine Corp for four years. Following his discharge from the Marines he began working for the United Parcel Service enjoyed every day until his Multiple Sclerosis forced him to retire. He then volunteered for twenty eight years at the information desk at Morton Hospital, again enjoying helping people and meeting many wonderful friends. Following his time at Morton Hospital, Tim was busier than ever managing household matters. Tim married his loving wife Joan and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. He also leaves his two daughters Katy Wooley and her husband Ron and Kerry Rebolo and her husband Alan. Bumpa leaves his loving grandchildren Griffin and Beckett Wooley and Murphy and Maddox Rebolo. He also leaves his brothers Fran and his wife Susan, Bill and his wife Ann and his twin brother Tom and his wife Jean, Bob and his wife Paula and his only sister Rosemary and her husband Robert Hunter and his brother in law Bob Gilbert and his wife Judy and sister in law Laura Lukasewski. Tim also leaves 23 nieces and nephews who were very much a part of his life. Tim was also grateful for the wonderful help he received from his home health aides Donna, Kathy, Dawn, Bea and Estelle who came for years and were part of his family. Timothy enjoyed sports, especially the Patriots, music, the computer, television shows, watching Mass and the Rosary on tv and trips to Disney with the family and summers at the family compound on Cape Cod. Most of all he cherished his time with his grandchildren and all his family. Timothy will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, love and his sense of humor that will remain in our hearts forever. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, December 29th from 9:30-10:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11 am. Burial will be private at the request of the family. In Middleboro, December 22, 2014 Sheila A. (Vickers) Costa died in her home after a long battle with cancer at the age of 68. Born in Taunton, Sheila was the daughter of the late Charles and Julia (Zilnoski) Vickers. She was a graduate of St Mary’s Elementary School, Bishop Cassidy High School and St Ann’s Hospital School of Nursing. Her forty four years nursing career was spent at Morton Hospital in the ICU, Recovery Room and Breast Care Center. She dedicated her life and career to nursing. In 1995 Sheila took on the roll as the facilitator for the Breast Cancer Support Group. In 1999 Sheila was honored for her dedication to patients and was named employee of the year for Morton Hospital. She also was named employee of the month to many times to mention. Sheila loved her home on the pond in Middleboro, gardening, attending Nascar races and camping at Sandy Neck Beach. She was the mother of Jay Costa and his wife Stacy of Assonet and Jeff Costa of Middleboro. Grandmother of Ashley of Assonet and Hannah of Taunton. Sister of Charles Vickers and his wife Joyce of Taunton, Jeff Vickers and his wife Kathleen of San Geronimo, CA and Sue Maynard of Long Island, NY. She was the former wife of Larry Costa. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Friday, December 26th from 4-7 PM. A service will be held at the Christ Community Church 518 Middleboro Ave in East Taunton on Saturday at 11 AM. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Helen Louise Donnelly Medeiros, born in 1944, left this life unexpectedly on December 23, 2014 age 70. She was the only child of the late Edward and Dorothy (Leonard) Donnelly of North Dighton and the loving wife of William Medeiros. Her family was the center of her life and she often told friends how blessed she felt to have such a wonderful family. Helen adored and was extremely proud of her son, Eamon and his lovely wife Stacie. Helen lived for her two grandchildren, Liam and Zoey Helen Medeiros. She grew up in North Dighton and lived many years in Taunton. Faith was a strong influence on Helen and she was a communicant of the former St Joseph’s Church in North Dighton and St Mary’s Church in Taunton. Helen was retired from the Taunton Public Library after many years. She was a graduate of Bridgewater State College and her love of books, literature and poetry continued throughout her life. Active in politics, she was a Massachusetts delegate to the Democratic National Convention for Presidential Candidate George McGovern in 1972. Helen had a deep love for Ireland and all things Irish. She traveled to Ireland many times with her son, her parents and with friends. She remained very close to her family and friends there and Crosserlough, County Cavan became her second home. Her generous and kind spirit brought joy to all who knew her. Her outer and inner beauty always shined and will continue in the fond memories of her family and friends. Noah McCrohan 44 of Taunton passed away suddenly on December 25, 2014. He was the beloved son of Devona A. McCrohan (Dionne) and the late John T. “Jigger” McCrohan III. Mr. McCrohan is reunited with his grandparents; the late John T. McCrohan, Jr. and Gladys I. McCrohan (Marshall). Noah was born on June 18, 1970 in Taunton. He graduated from Bristol County Agricultural School in 1988 and went on to serve as a dedicated employee at Morton Hospital in the Housekeeping and Facility Services Department for several years. Friends and co-workers will forever remember Noah as a diligent, hardworking man who was the definition of a “Good Soul”. Making people laugh was a talent that Noah possessed. He was always known for a quick joke and was respected as a reserved, quiet gentleman. Mr. McCrohan was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He always did his best to never miss a game unless someone needed his help or if there was work that needed to be tended to at the hospital. Noah will be loved and missed by all who were blessed to know him. In Hilton Head, South Carolina, December 25, 2014 Rita J. Murphy, Age 94, passed away suddenly at Hilton Head Hospital. Rita was the wife of the late William F. Murphy. She was born in Bangor, ME, the daughter of the late James T. and Estelle (Belliveau) White. Rita was educated in Taunton schools and resided there until moving to South Yarmouth in 1976. In the past few years Rita moved to Hilton Head to be with her family. Rita enjoyed playing golf, cards and cherished her time with family. Rita was also a communicant of St. Pius Church in Yarmouth and was very involved in church charities and organizations. Rita is survived by her loving children Dr. James Murphy and his wife Marcia of Hilton Head, S.C. and Donna Jeffrey and her husband Raymond of Berkley. She also leaves her grandchildren Chris Murphy, Brian Murphy, Lisa Camardos, James Contreras, Lynn Hunt and her step grandchildren Aaron French and Jonathan French. Rita also leaves her eleven great grandchildren Joshua, Hanna, Mary and Rachel Contreras, Solon Murphy, Cameron Hunt, Michael, Ellen and Catherine Camardos and Caleb and Morgan French. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 31st at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Rita J. Murphy, 94, formerly of South Yarmouth, MA, died following a sudden illness on Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2014 in Hilton Head, SC. She was preceded in death in 1991 by her loving husband of 50 years William F. Murphy, Jr. Rita was born in Bangor, ME, the daughter of the late James T. and Mary Estelle (Belliveau) White. A former resident of Taunton, MA, she and her husband moved to South Yarmouth after retirement where she remained until 2012. She enjoyed golf, playing cards, and cherished her time with family and friends. Before moving to Hilton Head in April 2014, Rita lived in Wooster, OH at West View Healthy Living. She made many friends while at West View, and lightened the hearts of many of the residents. Rita is survived by her daughter Donna (Ray) Jeffrey of Berkley, MA, and her son Dr. James (Marcia) Murphy of Hilton Head, SC. “Garmie” was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren; James Contreras of Superior,CO, Lynn Hunt of Somerset, MA, Brian Murphy of Concord, MA, Lisa Camardo of Wilton, NY, Christopher Murphy of Somerville, MA, and two step grandchildren Aaron French of Knoxville, TN and Capt. Jonathan French of Arlington, VA. She was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wed., Dec. 31st at 10am. in St. Mary’s Church in Taunton, with interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.

In Taunton, December 31, 2014 Kenneth G. Butler son of the late Manuel and Anna (Brown) Butler died suddenly at the age of 84. Kenneth was born in Taunton and a graduate of Taunton High School class of 1949. Ken enlisted in the US Marines Corp during the Korean War from 1951-1958 and continuing with the US Secret Service for many years. He was a retired Realtor for Cuddy Real estate in Ashland, before that he was employed for GTE Sylvania in Waltham as a facially manager and the former Armor Bronze in Taunton. He was a life member of the Elk’s, American Legion and the VFW. Ken was an avid outdoorsman he was always found enjoying nature, flowers, hunting, fishing and feeding the birds and Old Silver Beach was his favorite spot. Together with his former wife Rema Butler, Ken raised his five children Mike Butler and his wife Linn of Blackstone, Sandy Butler Buchanon and her husband Tim of NJ, Debra Lyn Botello and her former husband Ali Bahrani of Colorado, Cynthia Butler Duich and her husband Jim of Ashland and Rhonda Paradis and her husband Mark of NJ and Cape Cod. Grandfather of Asa Carl Buchanon of NJ, Ana Sanya Bahrani of Colorado, Maggie Duich of Ashland, Geoff Palmer and Christopher Palmer of CA. Brother of the late Al Butler, Helen Bettencourt, Ethel Ryan, Philip Butler, Ruth Buttermore and Ester Jean Dumont. Loving companion of Audrey Parker DeMoura. Ken was beloved by many nieces and nephews and was a father figure to Matt Adwin and Suzanne Ginsburg and his faithful dog Millie. Paul W. Henderson, 55, passed away unexpectedly on New Year’s Day 2015. He was predeceased by his father Everett Henderson and brother Gary Henderson. He is survived by his mother Eleanor Henderson of Taunton, brothers E. Steven (Judy) of Roslindale MA, Dewey of Taunton MA, Scott (Michelle) of Middleboro MA, 3 nephews, Gerry, Erik and Craig and 1 niece, godchild Stephanie, and 1 great nephew. Several aunts and uncles and cousins, and beloved 20 yr. companion Paula Porter. He is also survived by Angela Boyd Lewis and Christopher Boyd. Longtime resident of Taunton, he has resided in Newark Valley, NY for the past 9 years. He was an avid Patriots fan. He loved camping, playing cards, carpentry, canoeing, tinkering with cars and spending time with family and friends. He worked for Ford Motor Co for over 33 years. He participated in the Polar Bear Plunge for 22 years at Newport Beach, RI. Paul was a long time previous employee at the Taunton Dog Track. Funeral services will be private and at a later date.

In Taunton, January 3, 2015 Catherine “Kay” (Zlonkiewicz) Peterson wife of the late Russell J. Peterson died at home peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 87. Catherine was born in North Dighton and was the daughter of the late Dmetro and Mary (Litwin) Zlonkiewicz. She was a graduate of Dighton High School class of 1946 and also Wilfred Beauty Academy in Boston. Catherine was retired from the Taunton Public Schools at Leonard School in the Cafeteria and for the former Stevie’s Beauty Salon in Taunton. She was a member of the Oakland Seniors, Holy Rosary Church and enjoyed going on Foxwoods Bus Trips, Nature, Antiques and high school class reunions. Catherine was the mother Nancy Kandarian of Taunton, Russell Peterson of Taunton and Mary Brady and her husband Michael of Raynham. Grandmother of Jessica Kandarian, Paul Kandarian, Danielle Coote, Russell Peterson, Carly Brady, Mitchell Brady and Barry Brady. Sister of the late Mary Sankey, Peter, Joseph and John Zlonkiewicz. Jarred was the loving son of Richard Cordeiro and his step mom Karen Cordeiro of Taunton and his late mother Sandra (Sawicki) Cordeiro. Jarred has resided in Taunton for the past four years and was formerly of New Bedford. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and also Bristol County Community College. He was employed as a bookeeper for several companies. Jarred enjoyed drawing, music, working out at the gym and above all cherished his time with his family and friends. In addition to his father and step mom, Jarred leaves his sisters Amy Rosa and her husband Jon of North Providence and Fay Silva of Taunton. His godson and nephew Brandyn Mealy Jr. of Taunton and nephew Jordan Silva of Taunton and his niece Alexandra Rosa of North Providence. He also is survived by his grandmother Hilda Sousa of Falmouth. Jarred also will be missed by his Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and many friends. Born in Taunton, he was the son of William J. and Jeannette A. (Lovell) Lizotte of East Taunton. He was a 1979 graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham High School. Employed as an electrician by Interstate Electric, David had previously worked for Norwell Lamp and Codex Motorola. He was a former member of The Taunton Elks Lodge 150. A member of the Palmer River Camping Club, David enjoyed camping, bowling and photography. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves a brother, Ronald J. Lizotte of Taunton; three sisters, Suzanne M. Cruz of Taunton, Donna M. Notarangelo and her husband Joseph of Florida and Michelle A. Medeiros and her husband Dennis of Taunton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. TAUNTON – Natalie (Andrade) Callahan, wife of the late Stephen L. Callahan, Jr. of Taunton, died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on Jan. 5, 2015. She was 82. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Raulino) Andrade. Mrs. Callahan was raised and educated in Taunton, and was a graduate of Taunton High School. A retired bookkeeper, she worked for several area companies, including Early Intervention and the Taunton Boys & Girls Club. She was a founder and past manager of the Pennies from Heaven Thrift Store. A communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, and member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Mrs. Callahan was past president of the St. Joseph Conference. She was also a former member of the Daughters of Isabelle, and a longtime supporter of Maryknoll Missions. Survivors include three sons, Michael S. and James R. Callahan, both of Taunton, and Richard P. Callahan of Boston; two daughters, Lois M. Callahan of Fairhaven and Linda Callahan of Taunton; a sister, Adeline Teixeira of Taunton; a grandson, Joshua Thompson and his wife Amanda of Georgia; a great grandchild, Jack Thompson of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. In Boston, January 6, 2015 Edward A. Johnson, Age 88, passed away in Tuft’s Medical Center following a period of failing health. Edward was the husband of the late Mary (Dermody) Johnson. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Edward A. & Alice (Carter) Johnson Sr. Edward has resided in Taunton all his life. He attended Taunton schools and served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Edward was the owner of Universal Plating Co. in Providence, RI. He was a member of the VFW and the Coyle Father’s Club. Edward enjoyed sports, especially the Patriots and Red Sox, playing cards and was devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished his time with family. Edward was a communicant of the former St. Paul’s Parish in Taunton and was a communicat of St. Mary’s recently. Edward is survived by his children Edward A. Johnson III of Taunton, Mark D. Johnson of Taunton, Walter P. Johnson of Holderness, NH, Kevin F. Johnson and his wife Michelle of North Dighton and his late daughter Marilyn A. Martyniak. He also leaves his grandchildren Michael and Brian Martyniak, Amy, Kelly, Emily and Hannah Johnson. Edward leaves his sisters Elaine O’Connell and Ann Collins of North Dighton, his sister in law Margaret Johnson of Marion and his late siblings William E. Johnson, Dr. Robert F. Johnson, Phyllis Rodier and Marguerite Haggerty. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma 02780 on Monday, January 12th at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church in Taunton at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday from 2-5 pm. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in Edward’s memory may be made to Coyle & Cassidy High School, 2 Hamilton St., Taunton, Ma 02780-2483
