In Taunton, October 5, 2014 Roberta M. Cabral Age 88, passed away in Marian Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Roberta was the wife of the late Manuel Cabral. She was born in Bridgewater, the daughter of the late Robert & Lillian (Conor) Gilbert. Roberta had resided in Taunton most of her life. She enjoyed knitting, her cats and cherished her time with family. Roberta is survived by her children Michael Cabral of Taunton, Dale Glynn and her husband Greg of Taunton, Karen Bozak and her husband Stanley of Taunton and the late Mark Cabral. She also leaves her ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Roberta is survived by her brother Ralph Carroll of New York. Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma 02780. Private funeral services were held. Burial in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in Roberta’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association of MA, P.O. Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.

Mrs. Theresa A. (Lamarche) Semas, of Taunton, died Wednesday, October 8 in the Golden Living Center – Wedgemere, following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Semas. She was born 88 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Alfred and Graziella (Marcoux) Lamarche. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, Theresa had been employed as an inspector for Princess House, Inc. in North Dighton for 13 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and camping. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton. She leaves: 1 son: Antone Semas and his wife, Gail of Taunton; 1 daughter: Maureen Dufresne and her husband, Ronald of Lakeville; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Semas of Taunton; 1 sister: Jeannette Desrosiers of Taunton; 3 grandchildren: Melissa Holt, Kim Emond and Brad Semas; 3 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Theresa was also the mother of the late Manuel Semas, Jr. and sister of the late Claire Karol. A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, October 13 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In Taunton, October 7, 2014 Maria DaCosta, Age 75, passed away at home following a lengthy battle with cancer while surrounded by her loving family. Maria is survived by her husband Manuel DaCosta of Taunton. She was born in St. Miguel, Portugal, the daughter of the late Louis & Maria (Angelina) DaCosta. Maria has resided in Taunton since 1966. She was employed at the former Renee’s Curtain Factory as a seamstress. Maria enjoyed crocheting and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her time with family. In addition to her husband, Maria leaves her children Maria Barao and her husband Frank of Fall River, Angelina Correia of Taunton and Steven DaCosta of Taunton. Maria also leaves her granddaughter Ashley M. Correia of Taunton. She is survived by her brother Manuel Costa and his wife Dalia of RI and was the sister of the late Louis DaCosta, Joseph Costa, Maria Gasper. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma 02780 on Monday, October 13th at 9 am. TAUNTON – George M. Rose, 91, died peacefully at his Taunton home with his family by his side on Oct. 11, 2014. He was the husband of the late Silvina E. (Tavares) Rose. Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Antone and Jennie (Enos) Rose. A lifelong Taunton resident, Mr. Rose was educated in Taunton schools and later served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Employed by ICI Organics for over twenty-four years, Mr. Rose retired at the age of 62. He had previously worked for Paragon Gears Inc. and the former Stiles & Hart Brick Yard. A communicant of St. Mary’s Church, he was an avid card player. Survivors include a son, Thomas G. Rose and his wife Mary Lou of Dighton, a daughter, Lorna M. Butler and her husband Michael of Lakeville; and four grandchildren, Michael Butler, and Amanda, Matthew and Bryan Rose. He was also the brother of the late Mary Pauline Rose. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Oct. 15th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery in East Taunton. Ruth (Ewens) Burley Morin, 88, of Taunton MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 12, 2014, after a long illness. She was the loving and loved wife of Morton E. Morin of Taunton MA. She was born in Franklin, NH, the daughter of the late Pearl and Howard Ewens. Ruth was a graduate of McIntosh College. She was employed by the state of NH for 35 years, starting out in the probation department. Transferring to the Department of Employment, Ruth worked as an employment interviewer. She also worked on many special state charity programs. She retired in 1987 to move to MA with her husband. She was a longtime member and officer of the NH Chapter of International Association of Personnel in Employment Security IAPES) and a member in MA of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Ruth enjoyed reading and traveling. She had an extreme love of family and cherished and enjoyed those moments when they were all gathered together. She is survived by her husband Mort; a sister Jean Russell of Dover, NH; a son Craig Burley Sr. and his wife Pam of Farmington, NH; daughters Donna McCarthy and her husband John of Travelors Rest, SC; and Catherine Mack and her husband Marvin of Dover, NH; step children Michael, Peter, Richard, and Andrea Morin. She also leaves grandsons Craig Burley Jr., Thomas Hardy, John, Kyle, Eric, and Erwin McCarthy and granddaughters, Cindy Bentley, Kellie Doherty, Amy Plaisted, Katie MacKinnon, and Kendra Mack. She also leaves many great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Thursday, October 16th from 10-11 am. TAUNTON – Joseph Cambra, husband of Natalie (Rogers) Cambra, died at his Taunton home on Oct. 12, 2014. He was 84. Born in Berkley, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Gallego) Cambra. Mr. Cambra was raised in Berkley and was a graduate of Dighton High School. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Bridgewater State College. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as an honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. For many years he taught Science at the Blue Hills Regional High School, retiring in 1985. After retirement, he taught Genealogy at Bristol-Plymouth Regional High School. A communicant of Annunciation of The Lord Church, and recipient of the Marian Medal Award, in his spare time Mr. Cambra enjoyed woodcarving. He was a member of the Coimbra Club. In addition to his wife, he leaves five brothers, Anthony Cambra and his wife Irene of FL, George Cambra of Taunton, Daniel Cambra and his wife Marta of VT, Alfred Cambra and his wife Nancy of Taunton, and William Cambra of Berkley; three sisters, Rosemary Mount and her husband Richard of Berkley, Nancy Van Nostrand and her husband Robert of FL, and Helena Silva and her husband George of Berkley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late John Cambra. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Oct. 16th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Patricia was born and educated in Taunton she also was a retired clerk for Reed & Barton in Taunton for over thirty years. In Taunton, October 13, 2014 Marjorie (Freitas) Marshall wife of the late Edward Marshall died at Longmeadow Nursing Home in Taunton at the age of 78. Born in Dighton and educated in Taunton, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (King) Freitas. Marjorie worked for Morton Hospital in environmental services retiring in 1994. She was a member of the St Vincent DePaul Society, St Pierre shoe club and enjoyed country music, dancing, walking and especially her grandchildren. Marjorie was the mother of Kimberly A. Rose and her husband Gene of Taunton, Stacey St Martin of East Taunton, Edward F. Marshall Jr. and his wife Debbie of Taunton, Donald J. Marshall and his wife Cheryl of Taunton and the late Diane Marshall. Grandmother of Makayla St Martin, Shaina St Martin both of East Taunton. TAUNTON – Ernest V. “Rocky” Roma, son of the late Rocco and Ida (Spiezio) Roma, died at his Taunton home on Oct. 12, 2014. He was 76. Born and raised in Taunton, Rocky attended Taunton schools and later graduated from Mansfield High School in 1959. He owned and operated the former Rocky’s Barber Shop located on Broadway in Taunton for over fifty years. He retired in 2007. A member of the Raynham Lions Club and the Taunton Pistol Club, Rocky enjoyed traveling, music, singing and ballroom dancing. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, he had worked as security guard for the Patriots many years ago. He was a communicant of Mary’s Church in Taunton. TAUNTON – Francis J. “Buddy” Prado, husband of Elsie (Marshall) Costa Prado of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on Oct. 18, 2014. He was 92. Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Ellen V. (Brady) Prado. Educated in area schools, he was a graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School. Buddy served in the U.S. Navy during WW II stationed on the USS Massachusetts, where he manned the 16 inch guns and was engaged in numerous battles off Japanese and European waters. He later served in the Army Reserves and was employed as a custodian in the Taunton school system. He participated in the construction of Attleboro’s LaSalette Shrine, where he spent many hours volunteering in the years that followed. A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and yard work. In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Scott F. Prado of Manchester, NH, Paul A. Prado of Kingwood, TX and Joseph P. Prado of Taunton; two daughters, Maria P. Price of Taunton and Laurie A. Prado of New Bedford; a stepson, Ronald J. Costa of Taunton; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard Prado, Natalie Fitzgerald, Roberta Otiz, Lois Pine, Patricia Coe and Beverly Silva. Richard Lawrence Crosby, a lifelong resident of East Taunton, died at his home on Sunday, October 19th at the age of eighty-six, following a period of declining health. The youngest son of the late John H. and Cecily A. (Williams) Crosby, Richard was a graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School, and a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1952 to 1956. With his father, John, and older brother, the late Arthur E. Crosby, Richard was the proprietor of Crosby’s Garage, an automotive repair shop in East Taunton. At various times during the 1970s through the 1990s, the business also included snowmobile, moped and small power equipment sales and service. Beginning in 1976, Richard also maintained the family fruit orchard, growing and selling apples, peaches, plums and pears. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Mary E. (Lawrence) Crosby, his daughter, Catherine J. Muse and by his siblings, brothers Russell, Herbert, Stephen and Arthur and sisters, Cynthia Marie Crosby, Anne Bryan and Margaret Aldsworth. Richard is survived by his son, Richard A. Crosby, daughter, Elizabeth M. Bernier and son-in-law, Martin D. Bernier, all of East Taunton, as well as four grandchildren, Joel Muse, Laura Smith, Danielle LeClair, and Jennah Ventetuolo and by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 24th at 9:30 am. in Holy Family Church in East Taunton. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in East Taunton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Charity of One’s Choice.

Betty (Elizabeth) Stewart, 54, of New Canaan, CT and formerly of Taunton, MA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 16, 2014. She was born in Weymouth, MA on September 17, 1960 to the late Robert Stewart. Betty fought a very brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was a true fighter and never gave up. She also had a smile on her face even through the toughest times. She is our hero. Betty worked at Texas Instruments and the Foxboro Company and in the Human Service Field for many years. She worked and lived in Massachusetts lifelong until moving to Connecticut to be with her wife where they built a life together. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and old cars. Trips to Florida, Ptown and her beloved New England Patriots. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her devoted wife, Jacqueline B. Anderson of New Canaan, her mother-in-law, Lucy Anderson of New Canaan, a brother Warren Stewart and his wife Rosie of Taunton, MA, a niece Tanya Stewart , a great niece Mia Contois and great nephew Mason Contois all of Taunton, MA, as well as her Aunt Margie Loveday of Brockton, MA, who she considered her true mother. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother in-law Lucy and Bill Keenan, nieces Ashley and Kristin and nephews Patrick and Billy all of North Canton, OH. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, friends and many cousins. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her niece Angela Stewart. A funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton. Mr. Normand J. LeBlanc, of Taunton, died Tuesday, October 21 in Morton Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born 86 years ago in Central Falls, R.I., the son of the late Andrew J. and Emma (Senechal) LeBlanc. He was educated in Taunton, having graduated for the former St. Jacques Grammar School, and had attended Taunton High School. Prior to his retirement, Normand had been the co-owner of his family’s business, Andy’s Market on Bay Street in Taunton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he attained the rank of Private, First Class. He was a former member of the Chester A. Bearse Post 405, American Legion in Raynham. Normand enjoyed traveling, woodworking, cooking, gardening in his yard, and his best friend, Jenny. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton. He leaves: 1 sister: Jeannette Gaffney and her husband, Richard of Taunton; 1 brother: Donald A. LeBlanc of Taunton, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In Taunton, October 20, 2014 Carolyn White, Age 79, passed away in her home peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was the wife of the late Donald White. She was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Harold & Ruth (Haskins) Ashley. Carolyn has resided all her life in the Taunton area. She was employed at Morton Hospital as a switchboard operator. Carolyn was an avid reader and enjoyed yard work, going to the beach and singing in the Taunton Civic Chorus. Above all, Carolyn cherished her time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving children Susan McGuire and her husband Robin of Pasqoag, RI, Scott White of Foxboro, Bonnie Ferranti of Taunton, Nancy Nichols and her husband Craig of Taunton and Alexis White of Taunton. In East Taunton, October 21, 2014 Ransford E. “Buddy” Enos husband of Sally (Forbes) Enos died in his home in East Taunton with his family by his side at the age of 82. Born and educated in Tewksbury, Buddy was a US Veteran servicing in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the former Harodite Finishing Co. in Dighton as a shipper and receiver. He enjoyed yard work, reading and studying about history and traveling. Buddy was the father of Paul Enos and his wife Nancy of Fall River, Kevin Enos of Berkley, Tony Randazzo and his wife Sandra of Lakeville and the late Clyde Enos, Brenda Garrity and Walter Enos. Grandfather of twenty two grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton at a later date.

TAUNTON – Normand Lamarre, 84, passed away on Oct. 21, 2014. Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Alice L. (Girouard) Lamarre. He is survived by Gilberte (Audet) Lamarre, his loving wife of 44 years, their two sons, Normand and Charles, three grandchildren, two brothers, Maurice of Pawtucket and Francis of Port Charlotte, FL, and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Albert and sister Therese Forest. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Providence College in 1953, received his master’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston and his CAGS from Laval University in Quebec, Canada. Normand taught English and served as an administrator in the Barrington and Pawtucket, RI school systems. His passion in life was his faith in God, the love for his wife, and devotion to his family. Over the years he enjoyed travel, poetry and music. He was a Korean War Veteran, a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a Vencente. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Oct. 27th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Taunton at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Notre Dame Cemetery in Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In Taunton, October 22, 2014 Eleanor McDermott, Age 89, passed away in Morton Hospital following a brief illness. Eleanor is survived by her husband Edmund McDermott of Taunton. She was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Daniel & Helen (McNamara) Ryan. Eleanor has resided all of her life in Taunton. She was employed as a hairdresser and was a devoted and loving mother, wife and grandmother, who cherished her time with family. Eleanor also enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Hampton Beach, Myrtle Beach and Swifts Beach and enjoyed knitting and gardening. In addition to her husband, Eleanor leaves her children Ginny Starvish of Berkley, Jim McDermott of Taunton, Maureen Beaudoin and her husband Richard of Raynham, Kathleen Andrews and her husband Paul of Raynham and Kelly Pettine and her husband David of Taunton. Eleanor also leaves her loving grandchildren Paula Starvish Borges and her husband Joseph of Raynham, Bill Starvish Jr. of Berkley, Marc Beaudoin and his wife Kristen of Taunton, Kevin Beaudoin of Raynham, Ryan Beaudoin of Providence, RI, Patrick and Coleen Andrews both of Raynham and her two great grandchildren Dylan and Kylie Borges. Eleanor leaves her siblings Charles Ryan of Stoughton, John Ryan of CT., Joseph Ryan of FL and the late Daniel Ryan and Mary Welch. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday from 9:30-10:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton at 11 am. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. TAUNTON – Daniel F. dos Santos, husband of Deolinda (Bernardo) dos Santos of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on Oct. 24, 2014. He was 85. Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel I. and Angelina (da Costa S. Pedro) dos Santos. A resident of the area since 1967, Mr. dos Santos was employed by Reed & Barton Silversmiths for twenty-six years, retiring several years ago. He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church. Mr. dos Santos enjoyed quahauging, gardening, helping his son with his homing pigeons, and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Daniel F. Santos of Norton and Joseph F. Santos Taunton; a daughter, Marylou Forman and her husband Fabian of Taunton; a brother, Adelino dos Santos of Toronto, Canada; a sister, Angelina Couto of Toronto, Canada and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the father of the late Maria da Fatima dos Santos and the brother of the late Jose I. dos Santos. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday Oct. 29th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Virginia “Ginny” (Gillis) Dutra, 50, of Assonet, Ma passed away October 22, 2014 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Jean Gillis and the late Robert D. Gillis. She was born and raised in Brockton, Ma. She attended Brockton schools and graduated Brockton High, class of 1981. She worked at Tobey Hospital for many years. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her granddaughter. She is survived by her mother, Jean Gillis of Indian Harbour, Fl; her brother, Andrew Gillis of Rockledge, Fl; her daughter, Jessica Murray and granddaughter, Gabreanna Murray, both of Assonet, Ma; and her best friend of many years, Christine Gonet of Fairhaven, Ma. She now joins her father, Robert, who recently passed away. A Funeral Mass will take place November 6th, 2014, at St. Bernard Church, 30 South Main St(Rte. 79), Assonet Ma.
