Mrs. Denise L. (Amaral) St.Yves, of East Taunton, died Wednesday, May 7 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of David A. St.Yves. She was born 60 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Nicodemus and Evelyn (Cote) Amaral. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Denise had formerly been employed in clerical positions for several area companies. She was a longtime volunteer for Taunton Youth Soccer, and was well known for operating the concession stand during the games. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, her pets, and helping her children and her friends. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish in East Taunton. In addition to her husband, she leaves: 3 sons: Christopher St.Yves and his wife, Shana Figueroa of Beavercreek, Ohio, Darryl St.Yves of Taunton, and Jeremy St.Yves of East Taunton; 1 brother: Paul Amaral of Attleboro; 1 sister: Janice Isidorio of East Taunton; 2 granddaughters: Clementine and Violet St.Yves, both of Beavercreek, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Tuesday, May 13 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Holy Family Church, East Taunton, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. TAUNTON – Maria Conceicao (Riquinha) Luis, wife of the late Augusto Luis, died at Morton Hospital on May 4, 2014. She was 92. Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Estrella) Riquinha. A resident of the area since 1978, Mrs. Luis was employed by the former Walk Over Shoe Company. She retired many years ago. A communicant of St. Anthony Church, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, flower gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include two sons, Manuel Luis of Taunton and Angelo Luis of Attleboro; four daughters, Marta Tavares of Toronto, Fernanda Santos of Myrtle Beach, SC, Conceicao da Costa of Toronto, Canada and Natalia Simas of Taunton; a brother, Jose Riquinha of Canada; a sister, Maria Carmo Pacheco of Portugal; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria Patrocinia Pimental. Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, May 9th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In Pensacola, Florida, May 6, 2014 Victor M. Oliveira, Age 53 died unexpectedly by accident. He was born in the Azores, the son of Walter N. & Maria (Freitas) Oliveira of Taunton. He resided most of his life in Taunton and has lived in both Ohio and Florida the past fifteen years. Victor was educated in Taunton schools. He worked as a chef in many different restaurants. Victor a chef, enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He loved the outdoors, practicing Judo and volunteering at many local shelters for the homeless. Victor, will always be known for his big heart, free spirit and his love for family and friends. He also leaves his five sisters: Mary Kuezewski, Maria Carmen Johnson and Claudia Page all of Taunton, Francine Loura of Norton, Analia Oliveira of FL and his six brothers Carlos and Joseph F. Oliveira both of Taunton, Walter Oliveira of Middleboro, George Oliveira of Providence, RI, Luis Oliveira of FL, Peter Oliveira of CA and his late brother Joseph Oliveira. Victor also leaves several Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church in Taunton on Tuesday, May 13th at 11 am. TAUNTON – Pulqueria C. (DoCouto) Medeiros, wife of Marcelino F. DeMedeiros of Taunton, died at the Southeast Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Easton on May 8, 2014. She was 77. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Julia (Pereira) DoCouto. A Taunton resident since 1962, Mrs. Medeiros was employed by Texas Instruments, where she worked as a motor controls welder for thirty years, retiring in 1999. She was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. She enjoyed going for drives, shopping, traveling and family gatherings. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Robert J. Medeiros and his wife Maria of Norton; a daughter, Joanne Medeiros-Pimentel and her husband Paulo of Norton; two brothers, Edward DoCouto of Raynham and Jose Luis DoCouto of Grover City, CA; sister, Julianna De Andrade of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Ashlee, and Mathew Medeiros and Andrew Pimentel, all of Norton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was also the sister of the late Jorge DoCouto and Connie Rufino. Sean was an avid musician and loved snowboarding, fantasy football, golfing, sports, summers in Onset and above all cherished his time with family and many friends. Mrs. Mary M. (DeFreitas) deAguiar Pelaso, of Temecula, Calif., and formerly of Taunton, died Friday, May 9 in the Rancho Springs Hospital, Murietta, Calif., following complications from surgery. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Pelaso and the late Mario deAguiar. She was born 75 years ago in Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio and Julia (Fortuna) DeFreitas. She was educated in Portugal, immigrated to the United States in 1954, and had been a Temecula resident since 1998. Prior to her retirement, Mary had been employed as a trimmer in Quality Control for Family Fashions in California for several years. She was previously employed at the former Rennie Curtain Company in Taunton for 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, watching television and spending time with her family, especially her grandson. She leaves: 1 daughter: Linda Mena of Temecula; 4 brothers: Antonio deFreitas of Calif., Mario and Joseph DeFreitas, both of Florida, and Ted Freitas of Taunton; 3 sisters: Lucy Rebello of East Taunton, Maria Freitas and Maria Paquette, both of Taunton; 4 grandchildren: Jacob, Brittany, Solomon and Zachary Mena, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was also the mother of the late Mario deAguiar, and the sister of the late Jose DeFreitas, Maria Goulet, and Joseph N. Freitas. A Graveside Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, E.Britannia St., Taunton, at a date and time to be announced. In Taunton, May 16, 2014 Francisco C. Medeiros, Age 72 passed away following a lengthy illness in his home while surrounded by his loving family. Francisco leaves his beloved wife Maria (Deus Loras) Medeiros of Taunton. He was born in St. Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Jaime Pacheco and Delfina Medeiros. Francisco was educated in the Azores. He immigrated to Taunton in 1977 and raised his six daughters. He worked as a union finish carpenter, union# 1305 until his retirement. Francisco enjoyed working in his yard. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished his time with family. In addition to his wife, Francisco leaves his six daughters Luisa, Isabel, Graciela all of Taunton, Maria Hearrold and her husband Chuck of East Taunton, Loriann Medeiros of Taunton and his late daughter Luisa. He also leaves his grandchildren Daniel, Erica, Charles, Tyler, Kristen, Dylan and Jose. Francisco also leaves his siblings; Mary Jo Furtado, Ines Boleiro, Fatinha Furtado, Maria DeMelo, Eduardo and Antonio Medeiros and the late Jose Medeiros. EAST TAUNTON – Sheila J. (DelSolio) Silvia, wife of Ronald J. Silvia of East Taunton, died at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston on May 15, 2014. She was 70 years old. Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (Saunnders) DelSolio, Sheila was raised and educated in Taunton. A retired supervisor, she was employed by the former Paul A. Dever School for twenty-one years. Sheila enjoyed cooking, reading, and basking in the sun at the beach or beside the pool. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends and baby-sitting her grandchildren and her family’s pets. In addition to her husband, Sheila leaves three sons, Ronald J. Silvia, Jr. and his wife Robbin, Shawn R. Silvia, and Duane E. Silvia and his wife Diana, all of Taunton; a daughter, Kelley J. Correira and her husband Edward of Taunton; a brother, Richie DelSolio and his wife Pearl of Taunton; a sister, Marilyn Sikorski of Taunton; eight grandchildren, Jesse, Luke, Colby, Brianna, and Katie-Mae Correira, and Paige, Lucas and Mackenzie Silvia; a great grandson, Logan Todd Correira; eight fur-grandchildren, Simba, Nick, Peaches, Lilly, Napoleon, Gizmo, Hunter and Greyson; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, including her special aunt, Lorraine Pacheco of Raynham. BOURNE – Jacqueline L. (Morehouse) Almeida, wife of the late John A. Almeida, died at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bourne on May 21, 2014. She was 85. Born, raised, and educated in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Phillips) Morehouse. A 1947 graduate of Taunton High School, Mrs. Almeida later owned and operated M & D Catering of Taunton. A former member of the Memorial Methodist Church, she sang for many years in the church choir, and was a member of the religious choral group, Saints & Singers. Survivors include a son, Barry J. Almeida of Bourne; a brother, Daniel J. Morehouse of Grants Pass, OR; a half-brother, Jesse T. Morehouse of ME; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late John E. Almeida. Jane B. McManus, a retired Police Sergeant who led a distinguished career on the Taunton Police Force, died of natural caucus on May 20 in Taunton. She was 62. Born in Taunton in 1952, Jane was the daughter of the late Emily (Knapinski) and Joseph McManus of Taunton, and the sister of the late Valerie Thoman of Florida. She is survived by one brother J. John McManus, JR. of Taunton. Her nieces and nephews Melissa Panos of MO, Earl Thoman III of IL (deceased), Lannie Castronova of NY, Jill McCauley of MO, JP Thoman of FL, Amy McManus of IL and Kathryn McManus of RI. Jane was a graduate of Bishop Cassidy High School in Taunton and the Katherine Gibbs School in Providence, RI. She entered the Police Academy in 1979 and in 1980 became an officer on the Taunton Police Force. In 2000 Jane was the first female officer to be promoted to Sergeant. She retired in 2012. Jane loved her work and served proudly in her 32 years of service of the citizens of Taunton. She considered her follow officers to be her extended family. She had a strong knowledge of and love for antiques, was a great calligrapher, was devoted to her cats, and found great beauty and solace in the landscapes of Cape Cod. She will be tremendously missed by her family and friends. Jan’s family will great friends and relatives on Tuesday, June 10 from 4-7 PM at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton A Mass will be held at the Annunciation of the Lord Church in Taunton on Wednesday at 11 AM. Gamache. She was born 74 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Mary C. Sylvia and the late Sergio A. Santos. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, Janet had been a self-employed hairdresser for 20 years, and had formerly worked at Roma’s Beauty Salon in Taunton. She was previously employed as a sales clerk for the former W.T. Grant Department Store in Taunton. She was a member of several camping clubs in the area and was an animal lover who belonged to several Humane Societies. Janet enjoyed crocheting and computer games. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton. In addition to her husband, she leaves: 1 daughter: Brenda Cwiek and her husband, Walter of Taunton; 1 brother: Joseph Santos of Westport; her Godchild: Melissa Rose and her husband, Joshua of Mansfield, and 3 nieces. EAST TAUNTON – Mary S. (Silva) Morris, wife of the late Manuel L. Morris, died at her East Taunton home on May 25, 2014. She was 96. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Adeline (Mendes) Silva. Mary spent her younger years in both the US and in Portugal, moving to Fall River in 1939. Eventually settling in the Taunton area, she was a resident of East Taunton for the past fifty years. A retired sealer, she was employed by Reed & Barton Silversmiths for many years. Mary was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Survivors include a son, David G. Morris of Chester, NY; three daughters, Amelia “Em” Perry and her husband Michael of Dighton; Pauline Fennelly and her husband Allen of Swansea, and Susanne Amaro and her fiancé Mark LaChance of East Taunton; a brother, Frank Silva of Groveland, FL; two sisters, Sr. Rosario and Sr. Leonia, both of Lisbon, Portugal; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joseph Silva, Sr. Pauline, Dolores Joaquin, Theresa DeAguiar, and Sr. Mary Jose.
