Louise D. Dimock, 94, of 50 Tremont St., Taunton, died of natural causes at Life Care Center in Raynham on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Born in Taunton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Edith Idel Washburn Pero of Taunton, MA and the wife of the late Frederick C. Dimock; she was sister to the lateIdella Pero Lewis and the late Herbert Pero. She is survived by her family: her son Frederick C. Dimock 2nd and his wife, Dr. Jean Lane Dimock of Newfields, NH and their two children, Stephanie Dimock of Boxborough and Jonathan Dimock of Los Angeles; her son Danforth Dimock of Raynham and his daughter, Elizabeth Dimock of Raynham; her daughter, Alice Newman of Taunton and her three children, First Class Petty Officer Bradford Newman of Portsmouth, VA and stationed in Norfolk, VA currently assigned to the USS Enterprise and his wife Anneka Newman, Amanda Newman of Attleboro and her husband Charles C. Peters, Melissa Newman of Taunton; sister-in-law Joyce Tefft and her husband Larry Tefft of Stewart, FL; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and their children.

Mrs. Dimock graduated from Taunton High School in 1935 and Truesdale School of Nursing in Fall River in 1939, the first class to use Sulfa Methionine and Penicillin. She did private duty nursing at Truesdale Hospital and taught medical students while at Children’s Hospital and pediatric classes at Harvard. At Children’s Hospital in Boston she worked with Dr. Louis Diamond who discovered Rh factor, which changed the use of blood transfusions. At St. Luke’s in New Bedford, she was superintendent of the children’s orthopedic and pediatrics in the Lombard Ward and taught cadet nurses during World War II. During the Kennedy Administration and the Cuban Crisis she taught civil defense medicine. At Morton Hospital she did private duty intensive care nursing. She finished her nursing career at New England Brass Company as their Industrial Nurse.

Mrs. Dimock was a member of the Lydia Cobb Quequecham Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, tracing her ancestors back to the Mayflower and Peregrine White. Mrs. Dimock was also an advocate for mental health programs and helped establish many clinics including Pride Workshop, originally at the Taunton State Hospital. She was on the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Taunton Area Mental Health Clinic. She participated in the founding of the Taunton Area Mental Health Thrift Shop and worked with Rachel Morse. She is a member of the Truesdale Hospital Alumni Association.

Mrs. Dimock was a Girl Scout and won the Golden Eaglet Award, which was the highest award at that time; she was also on the Board of the Taunton Girls Club; reporter for WPEP for the Taunton School Committee; an elected member of the Taunton School Committee and was chairman the year the new Taunton High School was dedicated; chairwoman of the PTA at Pine Street and Mulcahey Schools for many years; Past Worthy Advisor of Taunton Assembly #13 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls; member of Rose Croix Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star; Brownie, Girl Scout, and Cub Scout Leader; blood drive recruiter for the Red Cross; life member of the Old Colony Historical Society;

Mrs. Dimock was also a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church (the former Winslow Congregational Church) where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed her summers at Little Sandy Pond in Plymouth where she and her husband owned property. She and her late husband were very proud to have owned a 1919 Woody Model T and a 1931 Model A and for years participated in many parades. She is also a proud owner of a large collection of records from the Big Band Era, Dance Bands such as Sammy Kaye and Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey.

In lieu of a funeral or memorial service, a reception will be held in memory of Mrs. Dimock as a time of remembrance at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 45 Broadway, Taunton, on August 18 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at which time condolences and memories of Mrs. Dimock can be shared with her family. Relatives and friends are invited. The family will have a private burial at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to a charity of the donor’s choosing.

Elvira A. Strange formerly of Taunton and Raynham passed away on August 1st at the age of 90. She was the wife of the late Lindell L. Strange. Mrs. Strange was the mother of the late Lindell L. Strange, Jr. and Eliot Strange. She is survived by her brother Frank Ornellas, Jr. of Raynham. Elvira had 3 grandchildren and was proud to be a Great Grandmother. She is also survived by her 5 nieces and her dear friend Norma Goff.
Mrs. Strange was born on August 2, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank and Maria V. (Coelho) Ornellas. Elvira grew up in Taunton and was educated at the Caswell School. She worked for the Codex Company in their factory for many years as well as being an Attendant at the Paul A. Dever State School. Elvira was a seamstress and a baker of wedding cakes. Later, Mrs. Strange served on the Council on Aging in Raynham. She loved Bingo and gambling at Foxwoods. She enjoyed Portuguese food and music and was a genuine friend.

In Raynham, August 15, 2012 Simone Francine Plante, age 92 passed away at the Lifecare Center of Raynham. She was a resident of Taunton since 1984 and previously resided in Carver. Born in Fall River on August 4, 1920, Simone was the daughter of the late August and Simone Goujon) Robillard, and the elder sister of the late Paulette Caron and Madeline Metzler. Simone was raised and educated in Pawtucket, RI and Fall River. As a consequence of the Great Depression she entered the workforce at the age of 16 to assist her family. She remained a seamstress through retirement at the age of 67. Thereafter, Simone worked for Crown Cleaners in Raynham to the age of 80. She was a member of the ILGWU. Simone leaves her two daughters and their families Simone (Monette) Manning of Arizona and her children Manfred Labes Jr. and William Manning, both of Arizona and the late Simone (Michelle) Angel of Nevada. Joanne Stanley& her husband Belcher of Raynham and their children Stephanie Stanley-Coyne of Canton and Belcher Stanley III of Raynham. Simone will be remembered by her family for her dignity and grace. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Church in Raynham on Tuesday, August 21st at 10am. Burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. In Hyannis, August 15, 2012 Margaret L. (Heher) Sullivan, age 92 passed away in Hyannis at the Essex Pavilion Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Margaret was the wife of the late Edmund J. Sullivan. She was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late John & Mary (Cleary) Heher. Margaret was formerly of Erin Drive in Taunton. She was educated in St. Mary’s Grammar School and a graduate of Taunton High School, class of 1938. Margaret worked as a clerical assistant at the former Paul Dever State School. She is survived by her three sons; Edmund J. Sullivan & his wife Merilyn of Woburn, MA, J. Brian Sullivan Esq. and his companion Cheryl Kessel of North Eastham, MA and Mark Sullivan of Taunton, MA. Her late sisters Virginia Quigley and Mary Parker. Her brother John Heher and his wife Lois of Littleton, CO. and the late Louis Heher, and her sister-in-law Mary Lou Heher. Margaret leaves her loving grandchildren Jeffrey Sullivan & his wife Maria of Marstons Mills, MA, Sean Sullivan & his wife Suzanne of Marstons Mills, MA, Kyle Sullivan of Los Angeles, CA, Wyatt Sullivan of Doylestown, PA and Trent Sullivan of New York City, N.Y. Evelyn May (Archibald) De Silva, who lived in the Taunton area nearly all her life and who was a descendant to two English families that helped settle New England in the 1600s, died Wednesday in Taunton at the age of 95 where she was a resident of “The Arbors”. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 1, 1917, when her parents, John R. Archibald and Ruth M. (Bullock) Archibald, moved there briefly to find work; but she was just a toddler when the family returned to Taunton. There she was raised, first on North Walker Street and then in a house on Winthrop Street surrounded by two younger sisters Lois (Thornley) and Joyce (Moore) and the family’s horses and dogs. In her youth, she worked in the Red and White Grocery on Winthrop Street, where her father, the proprietor, was known as “Honest John” for his fair dealings. A graduate of Taunton High School, she married Albert R. De Silva of Taunton in June of 1944, just days before he was shipped overseas for combat in Europe. After the war, they settled first on White Street in Taunton and then on Winter Street in Dighton, where they raised their two sons. Mrs. De Silva served as a Cub Scout leader taught Arts and crafts and worked in the office of the Raytheon Plant in Dighton. Over the years, Mrs. De Silva was active in the Woman’s League of Voters, found joy in creating oil paintings for her family, and wrote occasional articles about Taunton history that were published in The Taunton Daily Gazette. After her husband retired from his job as plant manager of the Bacon Felt Co. in Taunton, they lived in Greenville, RI. for a few years before moving back to Dighton. After her husband died, she lived in Norton with her son Dennis before spending the last few years of her life in The Arbors, an assisted living facility on County Street in Taunton. She is survived by her sons Dennis R. De Silva of Greenville, RI.’ a retired hotel executive who now operates Frates Drive In on Somerset Avenue in Taunton, and Bruce De Silva of Howell, N.J., a retired Associated Press editor who is now a successful crime novelist; a sister Joyce (Archibald) Moore of Syracuse, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. Her ashes will be interred with her husband at the National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In Raynham, August 18, 2012 Maria T. Lopes, age 92 passed away following a lengthy period of failing health in the Life Care Center of Raynham, with her loving family by her side. Maria was the wife of the late Roberto S. Lopes. She was born in Portugal to her late parents Herminio & Maria (Ribeiro) DeCosta. Maria was devoted and caring housewife who cherished her time with family. She was educated in Portugal, before moving to Taunton. Maria is survived by her children: Mario & Maria Lopes of Brazil and Berkley, Paula & Luis Costa of Taunton, Paz & Frank Bonilla of Taunton, Fatima & Joseph Mota of Brockton, Jose & Ana Lopes of Taunton, Grace & Robert Amaral of Taunton, Estrela & Victor Carvalho of Taunton and the late Rosario & Carlos Nunes. Maria leaves her 21 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He enjoyed wielding, building things, motorcycles and fishing, he was very handy. He loved to play with and spend time with his grandchildren. Theodore “Ted” Blevins passed away on August 17, 2012. He was the son of the late Henry and Della (Ciolkosz) Blevins . Born January 24, 1932, he lived in Taunton all of his life. Educated in Taunton schools he was a 1950 graduate of Taunton High School. Upon his graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Navy for four years , serving on the aircraft carrier Saipan which took part in the prisoner of war releases from Korea, delivering aircraft to French forces in Indochina and participating in Marine landing exercises at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The Saipan with a crew of 1300 then left for the Far East and round- the -world cruise. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 611. He was employed by Western Union and served with the Press Corp in Hyannis for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Campaign. He was later employed as a correctional officer for the Massachusetts Department of Correction. He leaves three sisters; Joyce DeMello, Judith DeMoura and Jackalyn Courchesne and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister June and brother Gordon “Joe” Blevins. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and Jumbles and the Yankees. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Thurs., August 23rd at 8:30 am. TAUNTON – Albert R. Alegi, husband of the late Virginia (Neves) Alegi, died at the Life Care Center of Raynham on Aug. 23, 2012.
He was 93.
Born, raised, and educated in Taunton, he was the son of the late Armando and Annie (Enos) Alegi.
A longtime resident of Taunton and East Taunton, he had recently moved to Raynham.
Mr. Alegi was employed by the former Paragon Gear Company for many years before retiring in 1979.
A member of the Italian Social Club and communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards in his spare time.
He also loved going for long rides and the seashore.
Survivors include two sons, Robert A. Alegi and his wife Susanne, and Dennis R. Alegi, all of Taunton; two grandchildren, Gina Iaconis of Franklin and Tisha Thornton of Coventry, RI; two great grandchildren, Hope and Paige Thornton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Bruno Alegi, Dolores Duarte, Ida Palazzi, and Elsie Kawa.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Aug. 29th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Aug. 28th from 5 to 8 p.m.

Richard was a graduate of Mansfield High School class of 1952 and then joined the US Navy serving during the Korean War. He was a retired Pipefitter for Nabisco Confections Inc. in Mansfield. Richard was the father of Richard A. Albertini Jr and his wife Janis of No Attleboro, Michael Albertini and his wife Cheryl of Middleboro, Teresa Strickland of Watertown, CT and Nancy Albertini of East Taunton. Grandfather of Crystal, Mathew, Kara, Erik, James, Britni and Evan. On Sunday, August 26, 2012, Leonard “Lenny” Peavler, proud veteran of the United States Navy, retired Motor Coach Operator, widow to Anna Curley Peavler and beloved father passed away after a long illness with his family by his side. He was 78. Lenny was raised in Wichita, Kansas where he lived until his dreams of seeing the ocean inspired him to join the Navy. While in the Navy, Lenny was stationed in Boston where he met his future wife at a USO club, then after that Massachusetts became his home. Lenny was a country boy at heart that loved Tarzan and classic Western movies, Bluegrass Country music, and all things John Wayne. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and other local teams. However, what Lenny enjoyed most was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Lenny worked for many years as an Auto Trimmer for Bonded Dodge in Canton, MA. Most recently, he worked for Bloom Bus for 28 years where he safely transported students to activities and sporting events, and Boston commuters to and from work. He attended Holy Family Parish in East Taunton. Lenny leaves his children Christine Costa and her husband Michael of Taunton, Anna Goss and her husband Timothy of Middleboro, Jaimie Pereira and her husband Dan of East Taunton, and his late son Everett Peavler. Lenny’s Grandchildren Michael Costa Jr. and his wife Alyssa, Amanda Costa and her fiancée Dayne, Kevin Costa, Sarah Goss, Abigail Goss, Jenna Pereira and Jacob Pereira. His siblings Cecelia Hedgepath of Wichita Kansas, and the late Mildred Coleman, the late Virginia George, the late Lorraine Hodson, and the late Jean Hinkle all of Wichita, Kansas. He was born 58 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph and Ora (Lineberry) Vieira, Sr. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. He was formerly employed as a Quality Control Inspector for the former Haskon Corporation in Taunton for 36 years. Stephen was a member of the U.E. Local 2046. He enjoyed fishing and boating.
He leaves: 1 son: Kyle Vieira of Taunton; 2 brothers: William Vieira of Brockton and Andrew Vieira of Taunton, and several nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph Vieira, Jr., Joann Vieira and Lynne Vieira.

Sgt. Major, U.S. Army, Retired Joseph V. Keene, Sr., of Taunton, died Saturday, September 22 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Santos) Keene. He was born 79 years ago in Fall River, the son of the late John L. and Alma (Girard) Keene, Sr. He was educated in Taunton, having graduated from Taunton High School, and had been a city resident for the past 32 years. Prior to his retirement, he served as a Sergeant Major in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was awarded the Armed Services Reserve Medal, the National Defense Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Service Medal, the Good conduct Medal, the M 16 Rifle Expert Award, the Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Achievement Medal. His service to his country spanned 35 years. He was a member of the Family Motorcoach Association and the Military Travle Association. He was an avid gardener. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 2 sons: Joseph V. Keene, Jr. and his wife, Lori of No. Dighton, and Michael J. Keene and his fiancee, Julia Simo of Berkley; 1 brother: John L. Keene and his wife, Eleanor of Taunton; 1 sister: Mary-Alma Bernier and her husband, Edward of Elizabeth, N.J.; 3 grandchildren: Julie Sunderland, Steven Keene and Michaela Keene; 1 great grandson: Gavin Sunderland, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Wednesday, September 26 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Church, 80 Bay Street, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. TAUNTON – Delores “Dee” Ultrino, 80, died unexpectedly at her home in Taunton on Sept. 21, 2012.
Born and raised in Taunton, the daughter of the late Manuel and Virginia (Ribeiro) Morris, she was a graduate of Taunton High School, class of 1950.
For many years, Dee and her husband, the late Frank “Rocco” Ultrino, owned the former sporting goods store, Rocco Sports in Taunton.
She was also employed by Trucchi’s Supermarkets for over twenty years. A
Along with her love of football, Dee enjoyed ballroom dancing and bus trips with the seniors to Twin Rivers Casino.
A communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, she will be remembered for her love of animals.
Survivors include a sister, Virginia “Ginger” Cadieux and her husband Ronald of Taunton; three nieces, Diana “Robin” Andrade and her husband Joseph of Berkley, Denise Ferreira of Taunton, and Stacey Cadieux of Taunton; a stepson, Frank Ultrino of Malden; a stepdaughter, Denise Fennely of Malden; two step granddaughters; five grandnieces; and two grandnephews.
She was also the sister of the late Manuel Morris, Jr. and Monica Lee Reynolds.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Sept. 26th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Cedar Knoll Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 25th from 5 to 8 p.m.

In Taunton, September 24, 2012 Thomas P. Leonard, age 61 passed away in Taunton Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Thomas was born in Taunton, the son of the late William F. & Leah (Cardoza) Leonard. He was educated in Taunton schools and has resided in Taunton all his life. Thomas was employed as a corrections officer in Bridgewater. He enjoyed music and playing the drums, above all he cherished the time with his family. Thomas is survived by his siblings Jeanne Reid of Taunton, Patricia Babbitt and her husband Richard of Taunton, Kathleen Slavick and her husband Richard of Taunton and William E. Leonard and his wife Donna of Taunton. Thomas also leaves nine nieces and nephews. James “Bo” Davidson of Taunton, MA passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2012 after a valiant battle with a prolonged illness.
Bo was lovingly cared for at home by his wife Geri. He is also survived by children that he loved dearly – Jacob Davidson and Stephanie Davidson of Hyannis, MA, Jennifer Davidson and Raven Davidson of Middleboro, MA, and grandson Colton Davidson of Harwich, MA. Bo was also a father figure to Alyssa Haggerty of Harwich, MA.
Bo is also survived by his parents, Robert James and Olinda (DaCosta) Davidson of Raynham, MA and four siblings – Lyn O’Leary of Grafton, NH, Mark Davidson of Raynham, MA, Lee Spearin of Bridgewater, MA and Asia Maria Davidson of Bristol, RI. Bo also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that cherished and supported him.
Bo attended Bristol-Plymouth Vocational Technical School where he studied carpentry. He was a skilled craftsman and was employed by Cohannet Village before he became ill. He took great pride in his work and generously shared his time and talents to help others.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the city and medical professionals for their exceptional care and friendship to Bo and Geri. They would also like to express their appreciation to the extended spiritual community of family, friends and acquaintances that kept Bo and his family in their prayers.
Bo’s family and friends all shared mutual, unconditional love. Bo also had a love of Native American culture, nature, especially the ocean and animals, music and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Everyone will miss his kind and generous heart, his compassion for others and his open sense of humor.
To honor his wishes, there will be a private celebration of Bo’s life. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in East Taunton, MA on Bo’s birthday – November 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM and internment at the convenience of the family. Mr. Frank V. Jonis, of Dighton, died Sunday, September 16 in Morton Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Emma J. (Leonowicz) Jonis. He was born 95 years ago in Brockton, the son of the late Silvester and Ona (Jarusericuite) Jonis. He was educated in Brockton and had been a Dighton resident for the past 8 years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a custodian for the Taunton School Department for 6 years. He was previously employed at both the Paul A. Dever State School and Taunton State Hospital for many years. Frank was formerly employed at Harco Farms in Easton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed attending the Prime Time Adult Day Program in Dighton.
He leaves: 1 daughter: Mary Ann Deveney and her husband, James of Dighton, and 2 granddaughters: Colleen McElroy of Taunton and Erin Deveney of Taunton.
A private Funeral Service was held at the convenience of the family. Interment was in the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting Hours were respectfully omitted. Arrangements were under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
