Mr. James C. Dinneen, of Taunton, died Saturday, September 8 in Longmeadow of Taunton following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet B. (Chisholm) Dinneen. He was born 84 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Frank H. and Agnes Irene (Walsh) Dinneen. He was educated in Taunton and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a lineman for the Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant for 34 years. James was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was a Life Member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks and was a member of the David F. Adams Post #611, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting and was proud of his Irish heritage.
He leaves: 2 sons: James Christopher Dinneen and his wife, Dawn of Berkley, and John Francis Dinneen and his wife, Cheryl of Taunton; 3 daughters: Janet Marie Dinneen and her fiance, Edward Custer, Joan Theresa Dinneen and Catherine Irene Dinneen all of Taunton; 1 brother: Francis Dinneen and his wife, Ruth of River Edge, N.J.; 5 grandchildren: Ryan and Matthew Dinneen both of Berkley, Justin, Corey and Danielle Dinneen all of Taunton. He was also the father of the late Mark Henry Dinneen of Harwich.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, September 14 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M
