EAST TAUNTON – Maria A. (Henriques) Medeiros, 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 13th at Taunton Nursing Home. The Lord finally called her home after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Maria was the loving wife of 36 years to Raymond A. Medeiros of East Taunton. She was the loving daughter of the late Armindo and Maria (Nunes Almeida) Henriques. Maria and her family were originally from Penalva Do Castelo, Portugal and settled in Taunton in May 1969, where Maria resided for the rest of her life. Maria is survived by her son, Christopher Medeiros and his wife Michelle; and a daughter, Lynne Belchior and her husband Jason, all of East Taunton. She was the loving and proud grandmother of Camron Medeiros and Abigail, Dylan and Emma Belchior, all of East Taunton. Maria was the loving daughter-in-law of Lawrence and Elizabeth Medeiros. She also leaves two sisters, two brothers, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Maria worked for many years at Robertson’s Curtain Factory and B.D.I. She was an avid seamstress. Maria enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, bike riding at the Cape Cod Canal, gardening, traveling, and the beach; but mostly spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devout catholic and attended Holy Family Parish in East Taunton. Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, April 18th at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
