TAUNTON – Maria “Connie” (Amaral) Silva, wife of Manuel P. Silva of Taunton, died at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital on April 11, 2013. She was 86. Born, raised and educated in Faial, Azores, she later resided in Angola for fourteen years, moving to the Taunton area in 1960. Mrs. Silva enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, and especially spending time with her family. She was a communicant and active member of St. Anthony Church, and enjoyed participating in Holy Ghost Society activities, as well as annual Day of Portugal festivities. In addition to her husband of 64 years, she leaves a son, Joseph Silva and his wife Lois of Boxborough; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Isabel Brum, Manuel Amaral, Dasdores Correia and Maria Goulart. Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, April 15th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
