TAUNTON – Manuel M. Barbosa, husband of Maria D. (Serodeo) Barbosa of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on April 9, 2013. He was 77. Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (do Carmo Resendes Melo) Cabral Barbosa. Educated in the Azores, Mr. Barbosa moved to this area in 1962 and was employed by the Walk-Over Shoe Co. for many years, retiring at the age of 62. He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church and member of the Ward 5 Club. An avid gardener, Mr. Barbosa will be remembered for his generosity with his prolific harvest, which included huge tomatoes and homemade wine. He was skilled at grafting, growing fruit trees bearing varieties of fruit on a single tree. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Paula Clifford and her husband Brian of Raynham; three sisters, Maria G. Medeiros of Taunton, Mary Lou Amaral of Pomfret, CT, and Aurelia Arruda of Raynham; two grandchildren, Kiley and Cara Clifford, both of Raynham; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, April 12th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
