TAUNTON – Chester P. “Chet” Slivinski, husband of Charlotte (Pinto) Fisher-Slivinski, died at his Taunton home on Jan. 20, 2013 with his wife and son, David at his side. He was 79. Born in Berkley, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Lajewski) Slivinski. Educated in Berkley schools, he later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. A retired automation engineer, Mr. Slivinski was employed by the former Hopper Feeds Corporation of Raynham for many years, until his retirement 1999. He was a member of the VFW Post 611of Taunton and the American Legion Post 121 of Berkley; and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton. Raised on the family farm, and skilled in the care of farm animals, Mr. Slivinski enjoyed animals, especially horses. In addition to his wife of Taunton, he leaves two sons, Chester S. “Chet” Slivinski of York, PA and David Slivinski and his wife Becky of Acushnet; a daughter, Diane Slivinski of New Bedford; a sister, Mary Korkolonis of Taunton; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph, Peter and Leo Slivinski, and the late Joan Vest and Rose Foley. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Thursday, Jan. 24th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
