In Taunton, December 29, 2012 Wallace Gerard “Gerry” Sanborn, age 78 passed away in his home following a brief illness, while surrounded by his loving family. Gerry was the husband of Shirley Sanborn of Taunton for 55 years. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Watson C. & Mary Ellen (Fitzmaurice) Sanborn. He was educated in Taunton schools and was a graduate of Coyle High School and a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston. Gerry then served in the Army Corp of Engineers. He worked for Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. in Boston for 33 years, becoming a Vice President before retiring. He later served as Clerk of the Works during the construction of 3 new Taunton Schools. Gerry was a member of the American and Boston Societies of Civil Engineers, the Conservation Commission, and the Board of Directors for Boyden Refuge. He enjoyed camping, loved animals, especially dogs, working at the Boyden Refuge and above all cherished time with his family. Gerry also leaves his daughter Stacey Waters and her husband Thomas of Taunton, his mother in-law Grace Jordan, his sister M. Patrice White of Raynham and his late brother Charles Sanborn. Gerry also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. Taunton, MA 02780 on Thursday, Jan. 3rd at 10am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church in East Taunton at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday from 5-8pm. Burial will be in Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.
