Mr. Norman C. Sprague, Jr., of Taunton, died Sunday, July 22 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was the loving companion to his angel, Hazel Taylor. He was born 72 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Norman C. and Lillian L. (Levesque) Sprague, Sr. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at the former Paul A. Dever State School for 23 years. Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served aboard the USS Sierra. He was a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf and softball, driving stock cars and was a NASCAR fan. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
In addition to his companion, he leaves: 2 sons: Steven R. Sprague of Taunton and Christopher J. Sprague of Medway; 2 daughters: Debra E. Blouin of Alexandria, N.H. and Sheri L. Sprague of Northfield, N.H.; 1 sister: Irene Crites of Onset; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joan Inacio of Middleboro.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Thursday, July 26 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Mayflower Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
