TAUNTON – Curtis A. Simpson, husband of Mildred L. (Dutra) Simpson, died at his Taunton home on Feb. 20, 2013. He was 82. Born, raised and educated in Taunton, he was the son of the late Louis B. and Susan (Kelley) Simpson, Sr. A retired groundskeeper, he was employed by the Wrentham State School for many years, before retiring in 2001. Earlier, he owned and operated a printing shop in Taunton and had worked for Rand McNally and Reed & Barton Silversmiths. Mr. Simpson enjoyed spending time with his family, country music, fairs, camping, traveling and dancing. In addition to his wife of Taunton, he leaves two sons, Arthur “Ray” Simpson of Berkley and Dennis J. Simpson of Taunton; two daughters, Sharan Simpson of Taunton and Kathie Cabral of Dighton; a sister, Dorothy Rose of Taunton; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Louis B. Simpson, Jr. and William, Harry, Charlie, Arthur, Esther and Elise Simpson. TAUNTON – Robert A. Souza, son of the late Antone and Florence M. (Munice) Souza, died at his Taunton home on Feb. 21, 2013. He was 60 years old. Born and raised in Taunton, he was a 1971 graduate of Taunton High School. He attended Andover Institute and later received a bachelor’s degree in business from Stonehill College. A retired payroll clerk, he was employed with the C.E.T.A. program for several years. Bob was a drummer with the former “Changing Times” and also taught drums. A member of Taunton’s Elks Lodge 150 and VFW Post 611, he was a past chairman of the Taunton Commission for Individuals with Disabilities. Survivors include two sisters, Carolyn Lloyd of Orange City, FL and Judith McMahon of Taunton; a niece, Jillian LeBarnes of Taunton; and two nephews, Andrew Lloyd of Bridgewater and James Lloyd of Deltona, FL; his childhood and lifelong friend, Daniel Laffan of Taunton; and many great nieces and great nephews. He was also the brother of the late Rana Byarms. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Louis and Anna (Baumgaertner) Spataro, he was a 1948 graduate of St. Ann’s Academy. A U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was later employed by Consolidated Edison, Inc. as a draftsman where he worked for many years. He retired several years ago. Jonathon E. Farrington, 28 Taunton, MA Jonathon E. Farrington, age 28, recently of Taunton, formerly of North Attleboro and South Attleboro passed away accidentally on Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Taunton. Born in Norwood, MA on August 15, 1984, he was a loving son of Donna M. (Beaupre) Farrington of Taunton and Bruce W. Farrington of South Attleboro. He grew up in South Attleboro and was a 2002 graduate of Attleboro High School. While a student at Attleboro High School he was enrolled in the culinary arts program and had also participated in soccer. For the past 10 years, Jonathon had worked for Uno Chicago Bar and Grill. Through years of hard work and dedication he rose to the position of General Manager and was presently employed for the companies Taunton location. While in high school he received experience in the food industry from working at Morin’s Catering in Attleboro. Jonathon enjoyed outdoor activities which included , golfing ,snow boarding and hiking. He was accomplished in kick boxing and loved music. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends , and will always be remembered for the ways in which he could always be counted on to lend others a helping hand. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his devoted sisters, Jessica M. Beaupre and her fiancé Michael Leavitt of Warwick, Rhode Island and Erika L. Farrington of Taunton. He was the loving grandson of Leo and Marcia Beaupre of Mansfield and John and Alice Farrington of Easton. He was the cherished uncle of Ryenn H. Gorey and Michael Leavitt. He is also survived by his dear aunts and uncles, Leo and Daryl Beaupre, Leona and Jim Russell, Bob Beaupre, Sandy and Scott Regan, Tom Beaupre, Alan and Sherry Beaupre, Sharon and Russell Harris, and many cousins and friends. Born in Boston and a graduate of Boston English High School, Joseph was the son of the late Michael and Ester (Ansite) Panit. Joseph was in the US Army serving during WWII. He was a retired clerk for the US Postal Service in Boston. Joseph was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Taunton, St Vincent DePaul in Taunton and was the former manager of the St Patrick’s Drill Team in Dorchester. Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Paula (Morales) Pereira. Angelina “Angie” R. (Borges) Perry, 94 of Taunton died after a brief illness on March 11, 2013 at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of Arnold F. Perry to whom she was married to for 61 years. Born in Taunton, She was the daughter of the late Ermelinda (Mendonca) Raposa Borges and Joseph Rasposa Borges. She is survived by her son Wayne F. Perry and his loving companion Marsha Moshier and a daughter Karen M. Perry of Taunton. Sister of the late Mary Sousa, Lena Rocha and Olive Bombardier. She also leaves several niece and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Primarily a homemaker she was dedicated to her husband and children. Angie, as she liked to be called was a devoted partner to her husband Arnold helping him on their farm for over 30 years. Angie loved to make homemade cooked meals for her family and is best known for the Afghans that she knitted for her family and friends. She enjoyed reading Danielle Steele novels, watching television with her husband Arnold and keeping up with events happening around the world. In Taunton, March 15, 2013 Wayne M. Davis, age 55 passed away following a lengthy illness in Morton Hospital. Wayne was born in Taunton, the son of Margaret “Peg” (Bolster) Davis of Taunton and his late father Shelton Davis. Wayne was a lifetime resident of Taunton and a graduate of Taunton High School class of 1975. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. TAUNTON – Anthony Gallego, husband of the late Barbara (Marvel) Gallego, died at the St. Vincent Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL on March 12, 2013. He was 82. Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Elemina (Cambra) Gallego. Mr. Gallego was a lifelong Taunton resident and former co-owner/operator of Taunton’s Modern Construction Company. A member of the Portuguese American Civic Club, his favorite pastime was enjoying the company of his family. Survivors include a son, Robert E. Gallego of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Ruth A. Blackwell of Jacksonville, FL, Jean M. Cavanaugh of Williamsburg, VA, and Barbara J. Wilson and her husband Thomas of Jacksonville; a brother, Edward Gallego of Taunton; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Francis Gallego. Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, March 20th at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Rafael Martinez, Jr., of Taunton, died unexpectedly Friday, March 15 at his residence. He was born 55 years ago in Manhattan, the son of Gladys Martinez and the late Rafael Martinez, Sr. He was educated in Manhattan and had been a Taunton resident for the past 3 years. He was previously employed by the Alcan Corporation of Union, N.J. for over 20 years. Rafael enjoyed politics, animals and was a broadminded reader. In addition to his mother, of Taunton, he leaves: 1 son: Rafael Martinez, III of California; 2 daughters: Jessica Martinez of California and Shantel Martinez of New Jersey; 1 sister: Leticia Aponte of Taunton; 4 grandchildren: Rebekah Aguilar, Elias J. Martinez, Joeniya Davis and Adrienne L. Ramirez; an aunt: Maria Hernandez of Taunton, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Tuesday, March 19 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Church at 11:00 A.M. Mr. Alfred C. Martin, of Canaan, Maine and formerly of Taunton, died Saturday, March 16 in the Maine General Medical Center, Waterville, following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Gail L. (Hudson) Martin. He was born 72 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Charles A. and Dora (St.Don) Martin. He was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of his life, before moving to Maine several years ago. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a press operator for Texas Instruments in Attleboro for 33 years. Alfred was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the early Vietnam Era. He was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Parish in Taunton. In addition to his wife, of Canaan, he leaves: 1 son: Charles Alfred “Chuck” Martin of Taunton; 3 brothers: Paul Martin of Florida, Daniel and Gene Martin, both of Georgia; 1 sister: Theresa Bourque of Canaan, Me.; 2 grandchildren: Corrine and Robert Osburn; a cousin: Robert St.Don, and several nieces and nephews.
