TAUNTON – Amarie Braga, 90 years young passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015. She was born in Taunton on March 9, 1925 and the daughter of the late Manuel and Catherine (Garcia) Mello. She was a lifelong Taunton resident and a communicant of the St. Andrew the Apostle Church for over 70 years. She attended Taunton schools and was a graduate of the first class of the Taunton Beauty Academy (currently Rob Roy Academy). Beauty culture was her career and passion. She made both men and women more confident by making them more attractive – with a few exceptions. One of her favorite expressions was “I’m a beautician, not a magician”. You could not go anywhere with her and not bump into former students who would hug and kiss their beloved teacher – Mrs. Braga. She is survived by her husband William. They had a marriage that was envied by all that knew them. Amy and Bill could be found out dancing every Saturday night at Benjamin’s or other local hotspots. They lived life to the fullest and were known for their parties at their home on Clifford Street.
