TAUNTON – John D. Reis, husband of Antonieta (Peixoto) Reis, passed away on Nov. 30, 2014, surrounded by loved ones. He was 76. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, he was the son of the late Luis F. and Ana (Cabral) dos Reis. He moved to Taunton in 1967, after having lived in Bermuda for a brief time. Employed as a cook with the former Paul A. Dever School for over fifteen years, Mr. Reis retired in 1995. He enjoyed purchasing and renovating real estate properties. He also cherished spending time with his family at Cape Cod. He loved to travel and frequent casinos with friends and family. John had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will truly be missed by many. He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Reis leaves a son, John L. Reis of Berkley; a daughter, Elizabeth (Demaral) Reis of Raynham; a sister, Maria “dos Anjos” Dias of Taunton; six grandchildren, Vanessa Demaral, John Reis, Angela Demaral, Joseph Reis, and Ryan and Tyler Demaral; and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Jose Reis. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Dec. 6th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
