In Brockton, January 27, 2014 John R. Murphy Age 51 passed away following a brief illness. He was born in Taunton, the son of Arthur & Anne Marie (Grundy) Murphy of Taunton. John has been a lifelong of Taunton. He was a graduate of Bristol Plymouth High School. John was employed as an auto mechanic and also owned Murphco Co., where he did engine building. John enjoyed drag racing, antique car shows and working on his 1951 and 1953 Chevys. John also leaves his loving companion Barbara Hayes of Easton. His brothers Arthur James III and Kevin Paul Murphy both of Taunton and the late Dennis Patrick Murphy. He also leaves his Aunt Marita Fair Murphy of Taunton. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, Feb. 3rd at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday from 2-4 pm. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
