In Boston, September 11, 2013 Nelson W. Sherman Jr. Age 83 passed away suddenly by accident in Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He is survived by his wife Jean (Eames) Sherman of Taunton. Nelson was born in Lakeville, the son of the late Nelson Sherman Sr. & Ethelyn (Pittsley) Sherman. Nelson has resided in Taunton since 1951. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. A graduate of Northeastern University, Nelson worked as an industrial engineer for the Samara Lighting Co. in Fall River and later was the owner of the Manger Christian Book Store in Taunton. Nelson was the founder and president of the Herring Runners Camping Group in Taunton. He was an active member of the Winthrop St. Baptist Church in Taunton, where he was the choir director and a deacon. Nelson also was a former member of the Bow Harrars Barbershop Quartet. Above all he cherished his time with his family and many close friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, Sept. 16th from 4-7 pm. at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma 02780 Funeral and Burial will be private at the request of the family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21st at 11 am. at the Winthrop St. Baptist Church in Taunton to which all are invited. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Nelson’s memory to the Roll of Remembrance Fund, Winthrop St. Baptist Church, 39 Winthrop St., Taunton, Ma 02780
