Theodore “Ted” Blevins passed away on August 17, 2012. He was the son of the late Henry and Della (Ciolkosz) Blevins . Born January 24, 1932, he lived in Taunton all of his life. Educated in Taunton schools he was a 1950 graduate of Taunton High School. Upon his graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Navy for four years , serving on the aircraft carrier Saipan which took part in the prisoner of war releases from Korea, delivering aircraft to French forces in Indochina and participating in Marine landing exercises at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The Saipan with a crew of 1300 then left for the Far East and round- the -world cruise. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 611. He was employed by Western Union and served with the Press Corp in Hyannis for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Campaign. He was later employed as a correctional officer for the Massachusetts Department of Correction. He leaves three sisters; Joyce DeMello, Judith DeMoura and Jackalyn Courchesne and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister June and brother Gordon “Joe” Blevins. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and Jumbles and the Yankees. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Thurs., August 23rd at 8:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church in Taunton at 9:30 am. Visting hours will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Wounded Warrior Project”, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
