In Taunton, January 16, 2013 Arthur W. Travers, age 89 passed away in Morton Hospital following a brief period of declining health. Arthur was the loving husband of the late Gertrude (Neary) Travers. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Benjamin & Anna (Rose) Travers. Arthur has resided most of his life in Taunton. He attended Taunton schools. Arthur served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986. Arthur was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the National Association of Letter Carriers. He enjoyed being a handyman around the house, coin collecting, being a mechanic and supporting his children in Motor Cross Racing. He is survived by his children Arthur Travers Jr. and his wife Claire of Taunton, Bernard Travers and his wife Donna of Michigan, Barbara Turner of Seekonk, Claire Travers of Taunton, Grace Bennington & her husband Richard of FL, Lynn Fossatti & her husband Harold of Taunton, Catherine Rodriquez & her husband Peter of Taunton and the late Bernadette McCormack. He also leaves his ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Arthur also leaves several nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, Jan. 21st at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday from 2-4 pm. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
