TAUNTON – Francelina M. (Medeiros) Garrido of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on July 5, 2012.
She was 86.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Francisco J. and Francelina (Pacheco) Medeiros.
A resident of Taunton since 1948, Mrs. Garrido was employed as a seamstress for the former Taunton Dress Co. for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 62.
A dedicated homemaker, Mrs. Garrido will be remembered for her appreciation of good food, especially fried clams, lobster and sweets.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church where she was a charter member of the Holy Spirit Society.
She enjoyed watching television, especially Wheel of Fortune and Days of Our Lives.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Edward J. Garrido of Taunton; two sons, Paul Edward Garrido and Frank Anthony Garrido, both of Taunton; a brother, Francisco Medeiros of St. Michael, Azores; a granddaughter; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Hortencia Ventura, Angelina Cosme, Roselina Marques, Lourdes Medeiros, Antone Medeiros, Manuel Medeiros and Jose Medeiros.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, July 9th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 8th, from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dana-Farber at Faulkner Hospital, 1153 Centre St. Boston, MA 02130.
