TAUNTON – Robert W. Menard, husband of Geraldine (Lewis) Menard of Taunton, died at the Epoch Senior Health Care Center of Norton on July 12, 2012.
He was 91.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late Renie and Alice M. (Yelle) Menard.
A graduate of the former Msgr. James Coyle High School, he later received an associate’s degree in business from Bentley College.
Mr. Menard was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, serving with the 19th Seabee Battalion.
Employed for many years by the former Haskon Aerospace, he later retired from Ametek.
An avid sports fan, golfer, and active member of the Segregansett Country Club, Mr. Menard was able to shoot his age every year since turning 87.
He enjoyed telling stories, reading, and working in his yard, especially tending his tomatoes.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Menard leaves a son, Robert F. Menard and his partner Laurie Purvis of Rehoboth; a daughter, Sharon A. Olson of Taunton; two grandchildren, James W. Olson of Raynham and Jennifer M. Nadeau and her husband Paul of Somerset; three great grandchildren, Tyler Nadeau of Swansea, and Hailey and Jacob Nadeau, both of Somerset; two nieces and one nephew.
He was also the father of the late James J. Menard.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, July 18th at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 17th from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MGA Junior Golf Fund, 300 Arnold Palmer Blvd. Norton, MA 02766.
