TAUNTON – Gretchen Lee Day of Largo, FL and Raynham, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on May 19, 2012, after succumbing to complications of cervical cancer found during her pregnancy. She chose her son’s life over her own.
She was 36.
Born in Denver, CO, she was the beloved daughter of Ronnie (Nickerson) and Timothy O’Driscoll of Largo, FL and John W. and Carolyn Day of Providence, RI.
Gretchen was raised in Smithfield, RI, and worked at several restaurants as a bartender and waitress, both in MA and FL.
Anyone who was fortunate enough to have met Gretchen will always remember her love of family, her beautiful trademark smile, her quick wit, and sense of humor, which she kept until the end.
She was also a true blue New England sports fan.
Besides her parents, she leaves her 10 week old infant son, Andrew Edward John Lake, who was born on Feb. 28, 2012; her fiancée, Christopher Lake of Largo, FL; two loving brothers, Michael and Mackenzie Day; a loving sister, Jordan Day; her special cousin, Karen Maclean of Raynham who helped nurse her through her illness; two special friends, Myracle Williamson and Emily Morse; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7:30 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a trust fund being established for her infant son, Andrew.
