Mr. Gerard Boucher, of Sutton, Vt., and formerly of Taunton, died Thursday, May 10 at his residence following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes D. (LeClair) Boucher. He was born 92 years ago in Raynham, the son of the late Donat and Yvonne (Poirier) Boucher. He was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed in the Maintenance Department of Shaw’s Supermarket in Taunton for a number of years. He was previously employed at the former Haskon Corporation in Taunton for 19 years. In his later years, he worked at the Auction Barn on Bay Street in Taunton before moving to Vermont. Gerry was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 1340th Engineer Combat Battalion. He saw action in Africa, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in the Rhineland Campaign. He was active in a local pigeon club while in Massachusetts. He enjoyed farming, raising rabbits, pheasants and pigeons, working in his greenhouse, gardening and working on his property. He leaves: 1 son: Robert G. Boucher of Sutton, Vt.; 1 brother: Maurice Boucher of Carver; 1 sister: Lucille Burgess of Attleboro; 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Alfred Boucher, and the brother of the late Louis Boucher, Anita Boucher, Theresa DePrete and Cecile Gallipo.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Wednesday, May 16 at `11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
