Lorraine M. Mello 2/1/2016 Taunton, MA

TAUNTON – Lorraine M. (Travers) Mello, wife of the late James E. Mello, died at Morton Hospital on Feb. 1, 2016. She was 75. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late William and Georgianna (Carreiro) Travers. Raised and educated in Taunton, Lorraine was a 1958 graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School. She worked for many years at Bristol-Plymouth Regional High School as an aide in several departments before retiring, and was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church. Lorraine’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her son, William F. Mello and his wife Susan of Virginia; three daughters, Cheryl A. Hickey and her husband Thomas of Raynham, Susan E. Williams of Concord, NC, and Linda J. Whalon and her husband Jeffrey of E. Sandwich; thirteen beloved grandchildren, Nicole (Mace) Sterling, Brian Mace, James Mello, Daniel Mello, Noah Williams, Samantha Williams, John Mello, Kaylee Whalon, Connor Whalon, Chris Menice, John Lima, Julie Lima and Amanda Whalon; and four great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Feb. 8th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church, Taunton at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 7th from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carolina’s Autism Speaks, Team Noah’s Friends, 8604 Cliff Cameron Drive, Suite 144, Charlotte, NC 28269.
